Located on the eastern tip of a peninsula of Vanua Levu, Fiji's second largest island, the Beach Estates lie in close proximity to the 'Garden Island' of Taveuni and to Rainbow Reef. Thus the Beach Estates are closely associated with both the activities and facilities of Taveuni and the exceptionally beautiful area of the Rainbow Reef Peninsula. ![]() Nearby resorts and concessions offer scuba diving excursions, sailing charters and game fishing expeditions. This area of Fiji offers world-class scuba diving excursions at Rainbow Reef for all levels of accomplishment from beginner to master diver. Most dive excursion operators also offer lessons and advancement certificates at every level. If you haven't tried scuba diving, or if you are advanced at the sport, the location of Rainbow Reef Beach Estates is your opportunity to experience some of the greatest underwater marvels on the planet! ![]() There are a number of restaurants for dining out on Taveuni. Several resorts host weekly "mekes" and "lovos". The meke (said "meh-kay") is traditional Fijian entertainment - lively stories sung by a chorus while entertainers mime gestures to depict the stories' events. The lovo is a traditional Fijian feast - a delicious and abundant array of native dishes, many of them baked in a pit lined with banana leaves. The meke and lovo are always accompanied by Fiji's ceremonial drink called "kava", a mild intoxicant made from the powdered root of the yaqona (said "yahngona") plant. If you're a golfer or a tennis player, a well-groomed 9-hole golf course, two lawn tennis courts and a Clubhouse for cold drinks are just twenty minutes away by boat on Taveuni. There are also some excellent daylong expeditions on Taveuni: hiking to the 60 foot waterfalls at Bouma and swimming in the clear freshwater pools; swooping down the natural waterslides at Waitavala where, on a Sunday afternoon, you'll see native children happily frolicking; rare bird-watching hikes in the high mountains of Taveuni; tours of the Wairiki Catholic Mission and the native Fijian villages; and treks to De Voeux Peak for a sighting of Taveuni's rare Tagimoucia (said "Tangimoutheea") flower. There is exploration, fun and relaxation for everyone. Fiji is a land of immense beauty. With its crystalline sea and extensive coral reefs, its multiplicity of tropical flowers and verdant, jungle-laden hillsides, and its high mountains with waterfalls and freshwater pools, Fiji invites you to pleasure and relaxation. And there is another wonderful feature to Fiji - its people. Fijians, ever friendly and hospitable, always loving a joke, are in a class by themselves. Their smiles and ingenuous manner come forward at once in their warm greeting -- "Bula!" -- which means 'Greetings' - 'Health' - 'Happiness'.
The Fiji Islands, over 300 in number, have approximately the same land area as the Hawaiian Islands. The three largest islands in Fiji are Viti Levu, "Big Fiji", with the international airport in Nadi and the nation's capitol
